INTEL: Robinhood gains Dubai approval for Middle East crypto expansion

Robinhood Markets (NASDAQ: HOOD) has announced regulatory approval to expand into the Middle East through Dubai, with plans to launch cryptocurrency and stock trading services in 2027.

The company confirmed on October 22, 2026, that it had received authorization from the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) to introduce its retail investment platform from the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).

The approval covers arranging trading and custody services involving digital assets and traditional investments.

Robinhood secures Dubai regulatory approval

Robinhood MENA Limited received its DFSA licence on July 20, 2026, according to the regulator’s public register.

The authorization permits the company to arrange investment transactions and custody services across supported asset classes, including cryptocurrencies, stocks, futures, options and investment tokens.

The licence also includes permission to serve retail clients.

Robinhood publicly announced the expansion on October 22 and confirmed that Dubai will serve as its regional headquarters.

Robinhood plans Middle East trading launch in 2027

Robinhood expects to introduce its investment platform in the Middle East during 2027.

The planned services include access to equities, cryptocurrencies, exchange-traded funds and other regulated investment products.

The company has not announced an exact launch date or a complete list of supported cryptocurrencies.

Although the authorization covers crypto-related financial services, it does not establish that Bitcoin trading is already available to customers in Dubai.

Dubai becomes Robinhood’s regional headquarters

Robinhood has selected the Dubai International Financial Centre as the base for its Middle East operations.

The DIFC operates under a dedicated financial regulatory framework supervised by the DFSA.

Robinhood’s expansion will place the company alongside other international financial institutions developing cryptocurrency and digital asset services in the region.

The company expects the regional operation to support its broader international growth strategy.

What does the approval mean for investors?

The authorization establishes the regulatory basis for Robinhood to introduce its investment platform in Dubai.

Eligible customers could eventually gain access to cryptocurrency trading alongside traditional investment products through the same platform.

However, the company must still complete its planned rollout before those services become available.

The announcement represents an expansion of Robinhood’s regulated international operations rather than an immediate launch of cryptocurrency trading across the entire Middle East.
