INTEL: Warren demands Anthropic answers on AI risks before IPO as filing flags political risk

Update (28 Oct 2026): Senator Warren has written to Anthropic CEO Amodei demanding answers on AI risks before the company’s IPO.

Senator Warren has written to Anthropic CEO Amodei, demanding answers about the risks posed by AI before the company goes public. The letter lands after Anthropic’s IPO-related documents, as reported by Bloomberg, set out its own warnings about political, regulatory and technology risks.

What the documents say about the administration

Bloomberg reported that Anthropic told prospective investors its public advocacy for AI safety regulation could expose it to pressure from the Trump administration. The company says remarks by its executives could also bring selective scrutiny.

According to Bloomberg, the concern is tied to earlier clashes. One was a dispute over Anthropic’s request for safety limits on how the US Department of Defense uses its AI technology. The other was a disagreement over the safety and export controls of its Mythos model.

Anthropic also cautions that it could become a particular target of certain administration departments, even if other companies in a similar position are not treated the same way.

Export limits and incident risks

The documents say future export restrictions could affect product deployment, international expansion and business growth. The same applies to cybersecurity or biosecurity incidents caused by AI models.

Regulation could raise Anthropic’s own costs

Anthropic also acknowledges that the regulation it advocates could work against it. If adopted, those measures could raise compliance costs, restrict product development and release, and slow the company’s growth, according to the report.
