INTEL: Meta plans $95 billion stock offering to fund AI infrastructure, FT reports

Meta Platforms is planning to raise $95 billion through a stock offering to pay for its AI infrastructure spending, the Financial Times reported. Nvidia, AMD and Broadcom would act as cornerstone investors in the offering.

Bloomberg reported that Meta is seeking to raise as much as $95 billion by selling common and preferred stock. The plans include about $35 billion of underwritten public offerings, according to a further report on the plans.

The offering would add to the large fundraising efforts by AI companies to finance the data center build-out. The FT describes the money as fuel for Meta’s “massive” AI infrastructure spending.

Chipmakers as cornerstone investors

Nvidia, AMD and Broadcom are all chip suppliers to the AI industry. According to the FT, they would take on the role of cornerstone investors, anchoring demand for the stock being sold. The sources provided do not give the size of each chipmaker’s commitment, the pricing, or the timetable for the sale.

The figure is a ceiling rather than a fixed target: Bloomberg puts it at “as much as” $95 billion, and the exact split between common and preferred stock has not been detailed in the material available.
