INTEL: Google unveils Gemini 4 Carbon, says it ranks #1 on Artificial Analysis index at 59
Update (28 Oct 2026): Google has set pricing for Gemini 4 Carbon at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens.
Google has unveiled Gemini 4 Carbon, which CEO Sundar Pichai calls the company’s next frontier model, priced at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens. Google says the model ranks first on version 5.0 of the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index with a score of 59. Access begins this week for a limited group of cyber defenders, with a wider release to follow.
Pichai said Carbon arrives two weeks after the release of Argon, another Gemini model. He said Carbon shows significant improvements in long-horizon tasks even compared with Argon, and that Google has strengthened its frontier safeguards.
Cybersecurity benchmark claims
Pichai said the model leads key cybersecurity evaluations. He gave these scores:
- 88.2% on SEC-bench Pro, which measures finding vulnerabilities
- 54.8% on ExploitGym, which measures exploitation
- 71.0% on CWE-bench, which measures patching
The benchmark results and the index ranking are Google’s own claims. The posts supplied do not include independent verification. Google and Google DeepMind also describe Carbon as state-of-the-art in cybersecurity and long-horizon capabilities.
Gradual rollout
Pichai said Google will roll the model out gradually and responsibly, as it did with Argon. Some trusted cyber defenders get access starting this week. Google will then expand access to more partners through its Fairwind Program, ahead of wider availability that Pichai said is coming soon. Google’s own announcement says the rollout begins this week to cyber defenders through the Fairwind Program, with expanded access coming soon. No date for general availability has been given.
